Before you get started

Have you lodged a claim with a Tribunal or a Court regarding this matter?If your complaint is not about the purchase of a motor vehicle, motor cycle, caravan or trailer or about parts or repairs for a vehicle, please lodge a General Complaint.

To enable Fair Trading to assess your matter please provide the following information (Where available):

  • If you were unable to provide you vehicle details previously please provide the current Registration number, VIN number and odometer reading of your vehicle
  • You may include a copy of the registration papers to assist with supplying this information
  • Tax invoice / Proof of purchase / contract of sale for new or used motor vehicle (if relevant)
  • Motor Dealers Notice or other documentation provided at the time of sale
  • RMS Inspection Report, Service and Repair Tax Invoices
  • Mechanical report detailing the current fault/s with the vehicle (if available)
  • Extended Warranty Documentation (if relevant)
  • Any other relevant documents that will assist in our understanding of this matter
  • For example, photographs demonstrating the reported concerns
